Cardiovascular diseases, being invariably the most common cause of premature deaths in Poland, along with diabetes represent another epidemic of the 21st century. The cardiobus of the NEUCA Foundation for Health offers free and safe preventive examinations to prevent these illnesses among Poles. The cardiobus will offer every patient the opportunity to have an ECG test, a blood pressure measurement and, if overweight, a BMI test. An ECG examination is particularly recommended for people suffering from hypertension and cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis or myocardial infarction.
Chest pain, shortness of breath and dizziness are also alarming symptoms. These symptoms may indicate post-covid cardiac diseases.
The aforementioned myocardial infarction is one of the three most common cardiac complications following COVID-19, the other two being heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. For this reason, the Polish Cardiac Society urges people to monitor their health, even when they are recovered or vaccinated. This also applies to people at a young age.
Spirometry test
Spirometry is a non-invasive and painless examination: the patient blows through a disposable mouthpiece into a tube. At each test, qualified medical personnel are present to perform the test and give expert advice on the prevention of respiratory diseases.
Spirometry is the primary and most commonly used test for the diagnosis of respiratory diseases. The test is particularly recommended for people who present with chronic cough, expectoration of secretions, dyspnoea and recurrent inflammation.
Densitometry test
Osteoporosis has no symptoms and the deteriorating bone structure is painless. We often discover it when a fracture occurs. That is why the NEUCA Foundation for Health runs a nationwide campaign of free and safe densitometric tests, which are a method of bone density imaging recommended in the prevention of osteoporosis. Each patient will receive a printed result and a brief interpretation, as well as educational materials on the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
Dermatoscope examination
Over recent years, the incidence of cutaneous melanoma in Poland has increased as much as threefold. Every year, around 3100 people are diagnosed with the disease. Melanoma is characterised by a high level of malignancy, rapid growth and low resistance to medication. Early diagnosis and regular monitoring of the skin’s condition play a key role in the battle against it, offering the chance of an almost complete cure. Whether or not these symptoms are manifested, we should have dermatoscopic examinations every year.
During a visit by the dermobus of the NEUCA Foundation for Health, qualified medical staff on site will assess all the patients’ pigmented moles.
The dermatoscope used during the examination provides an opportunity to examine not only the surface of the skin, but also its deeper structures. In this way, the specialist is able to determine whether the lesion is evolving into a life and health-threatening condition for the patient – malignant melanoma. After the visit, the patient will receive the result of the examination together with a picture of the suspicious mole and further recommendations. The examination is completely non-invasive and allows the following parameters to be determined:
- A – asymmetry
melanoma, unlike pigmented lesions, has an irregular shape,
- B – borders
the margins of the lesion are uneven and frayed,
- C – color
colour of melanoma varies from light brown to black, unevenly distributed, often with a punctuate concentration of pigment,
- D – diameter
diameter of the lesion > 5 mm,
- E – elevation
elevation of the lesion above the surrounding epidermis.
Blood sugar testing
According to estimates, ¼ of diabetics are unaware that they have the disease and consequently do not receive treatment. That is why the NEUCA Foundation for Health launched the National Sugar Level Test, a programme aimed at identifying people at risk of diabetes and, in a second step, providing real help to those who are ill or at risk.
The test is performed from a blood sample. The patient should be fasting (no food or drink) and is allowed to drink a small amount of water to sip on tablets, for example.
Podology examination
A prophylactic examination for onychomycosis provides the opportunity to differentiate it from other non-fungal diseases such as psoriasis, lichen planus of the nail or vitiligo of the nails and to select antifungal medication accordingly. The correct diagnosis of warts allows the type of wart to be identified and the appropriate choice of topical medication to effectively eliminate them.
The NEUCA Foundation for Health provides free foot and nail examination for fungal infections and warts and gives patients the opportunity to measure their blood sugar levels themselves!
Trichobus
Trichology deals with hair loss, but also with the treatment of conditions such as alopecia, dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis and oily scalp, inflammation and irritation of the scalp and psoriasis. Up to 1 million Poles suffer from the latter ailment, and as many as 80% of sufferers are between the ages of 20 and 40!
The trichological examination is non-invasive and painless and requires no special preparation or referral. It involves several hundred times magnification of the examined areas (scalp, roots, hair follicles) and analysis of the image from the camera. This type of examination should be performed by anyone who notices that their hair has started to fall out or if there is something worrying going on in the scalp.
Urobus
Genitourinary diseases in men and their prevention are still a taboo subject among Poles. Complications as a result of certain diseases, injuries, genetics or even a congenital defect may affect every man, which is why you should not disregard alarming symptoms! The NEUCA Foundation for Health offers free examinations to address this issue. Thanks to the testicular phantom, every woman and man will be able to learn how to properly examine the testicles. In addition, the urobus provides patients with the opportunity to measure their blood sugar levels themselves. The correctness of the measurement will be supervised by staff providing instruction and a safe environment to do so.
Examination of vision defects
Dry eye syndrome (DS) is a group of conditions associated with altered composition, reduced production or excessive evaporation of the tear film, commonly referred to as tears. This leads to drying of the cornea and conjunctiva. Dry eye syndrome often also accompanies other conditions and diseases, including menopause, autoimmune and dermatological diseases. Smokers and people taking various medications are also affected. We are particularly prone to unpleasant ailments during the heating season, when air humidity levels are lower. Symptoms are also exacerbated at the end of the day, due to prolonged eye work (e.g. working for hours at the computer) or due to exposure to unfavourable factors such as wind, cold air and also the sun.
During the visit of the NEUCA Foundation for Health’s eyebus, qualified medical staff present on site will interview the patient and, using specialised equipment, perform an examination. The surface of the eye and the quality of the tear film will be assessed. After the visit, the patient will receive the result of the examination along with information on further recommendations.

The NEUCA Foundation for Health issues Patient’s Essential, which was developed with the idea of health education for society.
The Patient’s Handbook is a guide to health education for the general public, helping them to see how much we can do for our own health and the health of our loved ones. The Patient’s Handbook contains diaries for recording blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol levels, a nicotine dependency test, a schedule of medical appointments and vaccination dates. In addition, the Patient’s Handbook contains informative articles and advice on the most common illnesses.
The entire booklet comprises 36 pages and is A5 in size. Thanks to its compact size, the Patient’s Handbook can be taken anywhere and contains basic information about your illness.
